Creation of level usable land for parking and a hotel on a site with very steep slopes overlying unstable weak Marine Clay soils.

SOLUTION

Design, furnish and installation of a 3900 sf 10 ft high post and panel wall in a cut to create parking near Route 1 for the hotel. At hotel foundation locations a total of 84 twenty-four inch diameter and 20 ft deep drilled shafts were installed into Marine Clay to enhance the global stability. To create flat usable land GCI designed, furnished and installed a 13,000 sf MSE Wall. To meet the global stability requirements for the wall GCI designed and installed a total of 177 twenty-four inch and thirty-six inch diameter drilled shafts ranging from 30 to 50 ft into the Marine Clay at the face of the MSE Wall.
